Top Uses for Tea Tree Oil

As y’all know, I love replacing conventional chemical-laden personal products with all natural homemade products infused with essential oils. Some essential oils are used in my recipes more than others – melaleuca alternifolia, or tea tree essential oil, is one such powerhouse.

Tea Tree

This essential oil is used in almost all of my skincare DIY essential oils recipes! I use it in my facial oils, my make up removal wipes, my blemish roll-on…you get the idea. 🙂

I wanted to share with you my recipe for make up removal wipes. I use these every evening, and they work so much better than the store bought ones!

To get started, you’ll need the following:

  • distilled water
  • fractionated coconut oil
  • cotton rounds
  • Young Living melaleuca alternifolia essential oil
  • a little jar to keep it in(I used a 4 oz. jar I had on hand)

All you have to do is pour enough distilled water in the jar to fill it about halfway. Add 2 T of FCO, and about 8 drops of tea tree oil. (I like to add a few drops of lavender too, but it’s totally optional!) Close the jar and shake. Open the jar, and add 20-40 cotton rounds. Close and shake again.

Now you’ve got your make up remover wipes! DIY Make Up Removing Wipes (1)

(If you like camping/backpacking, pack a few of these in a little zip loc bag. They’re so refreshing to use after you’ve spent a day in the woods!)

Stop That Itch!

After yesterday’s post about the best bug spray ever, I realized I had not posted about my Itch Away roll on! This was actually my very first essential oil blend I ever used. A week after receiving my PSK (premium starter kit), I had a flare up of a recurring condition. I was itchy and in some pain and so desperately trying to avoid the months-long recovery I dealt with during my first flare up.

Stop THAT Itch! (1)

I was very new to essential oils, so I relied on my handy-dandy pocket reference and the wonderful Simply Natural Facebook group as resources. Not only did the blend reduce the itching/pain from that flare up, it’s now a staple in my oily medicine cabinet. Any time I have a minor skin irritation(bug bites, rash, contact dermatitis, etcetera), I pull out my new roller blend!

Here’s my recipe:

Itch Away Roller Blend

10 drops tea tree essential oil

10 drops lavender essential oil

20 drops fractionated coconut oil

Use a small metal funnel to pour all ingredients into the roller bottle. Now you’ve got a great remedy ready to go whenever you need it!
